Jun 01,  · Duster’s debut LP Stratosphere gets the reissue treatment. This is slowcore par excellence, the languid guitars and gently rolling rhythms melting away as soon as they hit your ears. Occasionally Duster take things down a more stormy and post-rockish route - see Stratosphere’s title number - but as a general rule this is a breezy affair.

Jun 21,  · The chord changes are deliberate and repetitive, just like the best space rock. There is a certain emotional presence to this album that is hard to describe; perhaps it's the soundtrack to the longest rainy evening ever. Some of the best music is made from simple, carefully crafted building blocks, and Duster certainly know what they're doing.5/5(5).

Duster - Stratosphere () A homemade-sounding, should-be classic of dreamy, druggy slowcore. Warm, analogue sound, disconnected vocals, and clean, loose guitar interplay are what make this record great. Also, listen for the fuzzy, blissed-out space rock centerpiece, "Echo, Bravo" -- that's my JAM.

Duster is made up of two members, C. Amber and E. Parton, with occasional help from their friends on drums and recording duties. Stratosphere is mainly recorded at their home on four track. At times, they sound like Pavement and other times like Seely with higher pitched male vocals.8/

Best listened to from inside the womb, Duster’s ’s debut Stratosphere simultaneously capped off and reinvented the slow core’s first wave. A four track dreamscape that will wake the neighbors and then lull them back to sleep.
